Make some time to update your beauty products. Start by going over your medicine cabinet and purse. It’s more than likely that you will come across expired products that should be tossed. Take a look at the list below to see what items are absolutely necessary.
It takes some women months to use an entire bottle of foundation. No matter how expensive that tube of makeup may have cost you, it’s imperative that you toss it out if the expiration date says 2011.
Although we encourage the use of mineral powders during warmer months, for the winter try liquid foundation with SPF as it’s often times more moisturizing.
Mascara is a little trickier. The tube might say it expires two years from the date of purchase, but the truth is it really expires three months after the time of use. So if you’ve had that mascara for more than three months, it’s time to throw it out and buy a new one.
While nail polish doesn’t expire as fast as foundation or mascara, you might want to stay current with the colors of the season. It’s time to put those festive and sparkly shades back in the drawer and start compiling nudes, pastels, yellows and teal blue for Spring 2012.
If you haven’t already, we suggest investing in quality brushes this season. Cheap brushes will shed causing you to buy another set. Sturdier brushes (ranging $20+) have longer life span. And though you won’t necessarily have to throw away your makeup brushes, make it a priority to clean them once every two weeks.
Perfumes are one of those items we forget to throw out. If you’ve had the same fragrance for over two years, it’s time to get a new one. Make a stop to the department store and see what new scents are out there. If you abide by that particular perfume get the same but in a brand new bottle.
