Show off your stunning caramel-to-chocolate eye color with a smoky eye. The light-to-dark shading will make your look pop for everyday activities and evening events. Try this bold makeup maneuver the next time you want to turn a few heads.

Step 1: Use a Base Create a solid foundation for your vibrant look. Use a primer or creamy foundation on your eyelids before adding color. This will smooth your skin tone and provide a slightly tacky base to keep powder cosmetics in place.

Step 2: Start Dark Choose a deep gray, chocolate brown, navy blue, or forest green eye shadow as your base color. These dark, rich hues complement skin tones ranging from caramel to olive. Apply the dark color on three-quarters of your eyelid. Start close to the corner of your eye, near your nose, and work outward.

Step 3: Brighten the Look Now, highlight the small colorless area on your eyelid close to your nose. Use a light, bright color to really show off your eye color. Shades of gold, pearl, and pale lavender accent darker eye tones. If you have lighter hazel eyes, complement them with a light shade of blue, green, or cocoa.

Step 4: Outline Your Eyes Tie the look together with a bold application of eyeliner. Use a liquid eyeliner pencil in black. Start at the corner of your eye that is closest to the nose and, with one smooth stroke, line your upper eyelid. For an even more dramatic nighttime appeal, make the line wider with a second swipe. Next, line the bottom eyelids.

Step 5: Embellish Those Lashes Finish the smoky eye by flaunting your lashes. Choose lash-extending mascara or don a pair of feathery falsies; both will add drama to your look. Go with makeup or faux lashes in black for the most impact.
