Now that it is finally getting chilly you can reach for the beautiful silk and cashmere scarves you have been keeping in the back of your closet. They will become a fabulous tool, not only for keeping you warm this season, but to give a fresh look to your wardrobe. You may already have one or two preferred ways to wear them, but consider also the following fun ways to wear scarves.
For rectangular scarves the most common look is the “classic drape,” in which you just hang the scarf from your neck and let the fabric flow down from each side of it. Another popular look is the modern “one loop around the neck,” which wraps the fabric completely around your neck once and then falls on each side similar to the classic drape.
Besides them, however, there are plenty of knots and loops with which a scarf can be maneuvered to create interesting looks. The following ideas work better with longer scarves (that means more material to play with!).
There are many more ways to wear scarves. You can extend one over your shoulders as a wrap, or toss one end of your scarf to the back for a fast look that will keep it from falling. Rectangular scarves can also be used around the waist as belts and sarong-like pieces, and around the head as hair-band look-alikes. If you browse through the Internet you will find an endless amount of ideas for wearing a scarf, many more if you consider different shapes – square and thin scarves, for example.
Keep yourself warm this season, your wardrobe looking as good as new, and your friends watching with these new ways to wear scarves!
