The routine

During a 60 minute workout, you will complete three types of exercises: treadmill interval training, indoor rowing, and weight training blocks. It’s okay if you’ve never done these types of exercises before, personal trainers are watching your every move to make sure you don’t hurt yourself and that your form is top-notch.

Each participant is equipped with a heart-rate monitor to target your maximum heart rate during the workout. Everyone’s stats are anonymously posted on a television screen so you can see how you compare to the class. Again, this helps motivate you to keep up, or blow your competition away.

This circuit-style, high-energy workout focuses on cardiovascular endurance and weight training to help participants slim down and tone up. It doesn’t come without a lot of hard work and determination, however. Most participants attend class at least three times a week. Beyond the decrease in your pant size and less jiggle in your tummy region, Orangetheory participants gain increased energy for the day, a faster metabolism to burn calories, and the satisfaction of reaching their fitness goals .

For an extra boost, overhaul your eating habits, too. Limit your sugary indulgences and fill your dinner plate with fresh produce, lean meats, whole grains, and unsaturated fats like olive oil. Watch your beverage choices too. Alcohol, flavored coffee, soda, fruit juice, and milk can add extra calories to your intake without filling you up. When in doubt, reach for water flavored with a few slices of lemon or lime.
