Not only has she sworn off cigarettes and alcohol, she is s sticker about getting plenty of sleep at night. No sleep, cigarettes and booze are common things people who party indulge in. She makes herself workout: Even when she’s not feeling motivated, Jennifer makes sure to get her workouts in. For the star, it’s not just about maintaining her physique; it’s about maintaining her mental health as well. “Sometimes when I get home and I’m not feeling so great, I make myself go to the gym,” she’s said in Redbook. “Then I come home and take a shower, put on a great outfit, some makeup, tie my hair up, and I feel pepped up and great about myself.” She doesn’t hate herself: One of the traps many women fall into is that of self-loathing. When you hate how you look, it not only affects your physical appearance, it affects your mental well-being. Loving herself is something Jennifer has made it a point to do. “”I remember when I had baby fat and my thighs were so out of proportion to my ankles,” she told The Telegraph. “Then I remember dropping weight and being quite thin. Then, when I got pregnant, I remember watching my back, belly and butt grow and thinking, ‘I will never be the same again.’ Then I remember right after the twins were born having that weird jiggly belly — and kind of loving that, too. Because I earned that jiggly belly. Then came trying to get my body back into shape and how long that took. A whole year.” She eats healthy and sticks to a routine: Eating healthy is important for anyone, but so is sticking to a healthy lifestyle. Jennifer Lopez isn’t about jumping from fad diet to fad diet; she found something that works for her–something she believes in–and she sticks with it. According to an interview with Women’s Fitness, Lopez avoids sugar and salt but doesn’t cut anything out of her diet completely. “There are a number of weird diets out there but I don’t follow them,” she said. “I eat almost everything, only in moderation.” She listens to her doctor: Something many people are guilty of is ignoring medical advice, but not Jennifer. A health scare in 2002 related to anxiety and lack of sleep could have been much worse for the actress, but she sought care immediately and listened to her doctor’s recommendations. “I was working on a movie called Enough, I was recording an album, I was doing videos on the weekend and I was recording at night,” she explained, as reported by Yahoo Celebrity. “I had worked maybe 55 days in a row without a day off and shooting on a film, and I just one day was walking towards the set and — every time I walked towards the set my heart would start beating and I would start getting frightened.” Luckily, she took her doctor’s advice to sleep more and take better care of herself, and now she is better equipped to handle her demanding schedule.
