‘Jane the Virgin’ shows Latino power at People’s Choice Awards

Those nominated against TV series “Jane the Virgin” in the upcoming Golden Globes should be feeling the heat, because the comedy show has just nabbed its first-ever People’s Choice award this year. Lead actress Gina Rodriguez, of Puerto Rican descent, expressed her joy on Instagram with a sweet video message to her fans. Another win at the event that showed true Latino power is the honor of Favorite Dramedy, obtained by Netflix hit “Orange is the New Black.” The show has become popular among TV lovers because of its entertaining and diverse cast, which includes caribbean starlets Dascha Polanco and Selenis Leyva.
