NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A CALL TO MEN, a leading violence prevention organization, will host a
free virtual training on preventing sexual assault on college campuses.
The event will be held on March 24 from 1:00-2:00 PM EST. The virtual
training is free and open to representatives from colleges and
universities working to create safer student environments.

Two recent alarming studies make it impossible to deny the existence of
rape culture and prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses.

According to the study published in the National
Bureau of Economic Research
, there was a 28 percent rise in reports
of sexual assault from college-aged victims on game days. Home games saw
a 41 percent surge in reports, with sexual assault reports by strangers
increasing by 61 percent.

A second Bureau
of Justice
study that defined rape as any penetrative sexual act
found that 1 in 4 female seniors had experienced sexual assault in their
time on campus, with only 12.5 percent of those reporting the act to law
enforcement, school officials or a rape crisis center.

The virtual training will cover highlights from the research, promote
increased understanding of why rape culture exists, and offer education
and prevention strategies for colleges and universities.

“To undo rape culture, we must first understand why it exists and what
we as leaders, school administrators and students can do to dismantle
it,” said Ted Bunch, co-founder of A CALL TO MEN. “A CALL TO MEN
recognizes that the underlying causes of violence and discrimination
against women are rooted in the ways women and girls have been
traditionally viewed and treated in our society. Understanding that
foundation is the first step to undoing rape culture.”

The virtual training will be led by Bunch. As co-founder of A CALL TO
MEN, Bunch is internationally recognized for his efforts to prevent
violence against women while promoting a healthy, respectful manhood. He
is a leading voice on male socialization, the intersection of
masculinity and violence against women, and healthy, respectful manhood.

A CALL TO MEN partners with schools, colleges, universities,
