Airlines for America Encourages Passengers to Share Spring Travel Photos Using #WhyWeFly

‘The Getaway’ initiative will feature spring vacation snapshots from
travelers worldwide

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Airlines
for America
(A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading
U.S. airlines, today announced the kickoff of a social media initiative
that encourages passengers to share their favorite spring vacation
photos. ‘The Getaway’ is part of A4A’s broader ‘Why
We Fly’
social media campaign, which highlights the important
moments and special memories made possible by the airline industry.

“With a record-breaking 140 million passengers expected to fly on U.S.
airlines this spring, we want to showcase the experiences unique to each
traveler,” said Jean Medina, Senior Vice President of Communications for
A4A. “From spring break and the last ski trips of the season to family
visits and adventures with friends, airlines bring people together in a
way no other industry can. ‘The Getaway’ encourages passengers to share
their personal travel stories by tagging photos with #WhyWeFly.”

‘The Getaway’ builds on the success of a similar social media initiative
carried out over the winter holidays, which generated more than 500
holiday travel photos from airline passengers. The top 10 winning
submissions are currently featured in a Facebook
photo album
.

Beginning today, travelers are able to submit their favorite spring
‘getaway’ photos by using the hashtag #WhyWeFly on Instagram and Twitter
or by submitting photos as comments on selected A4A Facebook posts.
Winning submissions will be announced and featured at the beginning of
April in the #WhyWeFly
gallery
. Follow A4A on Facebook,
Twitter
and Instagram
