Anthem and Anthem Foundation Team with Lions Club International Foundation During Season of Service Campaign

Anthem Associates nationwide roll up their sleeves in a coast to
coast effort

INDIANAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Armed with paint brushes, gardening tools, trash bags and elbow grease,
Anthem, Inc., is once again teaming with Lions Club International for
its two-month long community service effort that will span 11 states, 15
cities and support more than 30 local organizations.

Anthem associates across the country have joined Lions members to
complete service projects at local community organizations from
California to the shores of Virginia Beach in their efforts to improve
the health of our communities and empower residents to lead healthier
lives. The projects have ranged from cleaning up parks where families
can safely enjoy active time outdoors to packing supplies at food banks
to help ensure local families in need have a healthy meal.

“We know that when our communities are healthy, their residents
are able to thrive, grow and prosper,” said Jose Tomas, executive vice
present and chief human resources officer at Anthem, Inc. “Our vision
for a healthier future relies on dedicated partnerships and together
with our associates, who are so generous with their time, we’re proud to
support local organizations as they create a healthier generation of
Americans.”

In addition to these joint service projects, the $250,000 grant from the
Anthem Foundation will provide Lions-Anthem Foundation Healthy Heroes
Grants
for Lions-led humanitarian programs that promote healthy and
active lifestyles. These grants will be awarded to Lions clubs and
districts that support improved health outcomes ranging from positive
youth development to empowering individuals with disabilities to become
more independent.

“Lions around the world are committed to service, and we are grateful
for the donation from the Anthem Foundation that helped us to expand the
service we can provide to reach more communities. Partnering with Anthem
Foundation helps Lions to positively impact even more lives,” says Dr.
Jitsushiro Yamada, Chairperson of Lions Clubs International Foundation.
“Working together to enrich the lives of our communities, we are making
a real difference.”
