Major Partners and Leaders in the Maker Movement Include XYZprinting,
littleBits, Raspberry Pi and More

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS), the nation’s largest retail
bookseller and a leading retailer of content, digital media and
educational products, is recognizing its strategic partners in its
one-of-a-kind Mini Maker Faire initiative that will be kicking off at
stores nationwide on Friday, November 6, through Sunday, November 8.
Barnes & Noble is launching the first-ever retail Mini Maker Faire
through a partnership with Maker Media, publisher of Make:
magazine and producer of Maker Faire. The robust program is made
possible through the support of leaders in the Maker Movement that share
Barnes & Noble’s commitment to tech literacy and experiential learning.
They include XYZprinting, littleBits, Raspberry Pi and more; who are
excited to be a part of the Maker movement as it expands to communities
across America at Barnes & Noble.

“XYZprinting is thrilled to partner with Barnes & Noble to show
customers nationwide that technology like 3D printing is attainable,
impactful and necessary in the home, office or classroom,” said Simon
Shen, CEO of XYZprinting
. “One of our core goals is to provide
communities with the tools they need to establish futures where
technology is ubiquitous, and there is no better partner than Barnes &
Noble – a company that already has close local and national connections,
and has always been a leader in literacy and tech literacy.”

“Our mission is to empower everyone to create inventions, large and
small, with our platform of electronic building blocks. Our partnership
with Barnes & Noble is a natural next step in advancing that cause,”
said Ayah Bdeir, founder and CEO of littleBits. “We invite new
and experienced inventors from across the country to visit their local
Barnes & Noble during its Mini Maker Faire to witness firsthand how a
product like littleBits can have a meaningful impact on how their local
communities build, experiment and discover with electronics to reinvent
their worlds.”

“We set up a non-profit organization to create the Raspberry Pi so that
kids and adults everywhere could have a fun, affordable, accessible way
into computing and electronic making,” said Eben Upton, CEO and
founder of Raspberry Pi
. “Barnes & Noble’s support through its
nationwide Mini Maker Faire is invaluable in helping us spread that word
and work with makers across the USA – we’re really looking forward to
see what people create!”

Other major partners involved in Barnes & Noble’s Mini Maker Faire
include Ozobot, Sphero, Protocol, Spin Master, ELENCO,
ThinkFun, LEGO® and The
Extraordinaires Design Studio
