Chairman Ernie Gutierrez, president and chief executive officer of Allied Industries Inc., was re-elected chairman of the organization. Vice Chairman John Casas, president of JT2 Integrated Resources, also was re-elected.

In addition, the following were elected to two-year terms:

  • Sandy Cajas, President and CEO of Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as Southern Region Chair.
  • Eddie Marquez, Regional Public Affairs Manager, Southern California Edison, as Southern Region Director.
  • James Duran, President and Founder of Duran HCP, as Northern Region Chair.
  • Gerardo Martin, Financial Advisor with Waddell & Reed in Napa, as Northern Region Director.
  • Roberto Cortez, President and CEO of Monarch Engineering & Development, as Northern Region Director.

“I am excited to work with this excellent group of people, who bring diverse skills and a shared commitment to benefit Latino businesses throughout the state,” Mr. Gutierrez said. “We have made significant progress as an organization and together we will build on that progress, assist local Hispanic chambers around the state and provide opportunities for Latino businesses to grow and thrive.”

Mr. Gutierrez said the organization plans to expand its Economic Summit program and its efforts to provide procurement opportunities for Latino businesses.

The first annual summit was held in March in Sacramento and plans are for two in 2014 – one each in Northern and Southern California. The Chamber also is working toward establishing trade missions to some of California’s strategic trading partner nations.

“All our efforts will remain focused on ensuring that we continue to be an effective organization that represents the needs and interests of Latino business owners,” he said.
