Cigna Foundation, Feeding Children Everywhere End 2015 By Reaching One-Million-Meal Milestone

  • ‘Cigna Fights Hunger’ campaign to continue in 2016
  • New $220,000 grant will help feed children around the world

BLOOMFIELD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Cigna Foundation today announced a grant of $220,000 to Feeding
Children Everywhere (FCE), a non-profit that supports Hunger Projects
around the world. This award celebrates a milestone in Cigna’s
relationship with FCE, as a total of one million meals now have been
packaged in 25 Hunger Projects over three years with support from the
Cigna Foundation to FCE.

The grant continues a partnership begun in 2012 between the Cigna
Foundation and Feeding Children Everywhere in the “Cigna Fights Hunger”
campaign, a series of volunteer events that mobilize Cigna employees to
package nutritious meals for hungry children and families in their own
communities and globally. In 2015, the Cigna Foundation grant and Cigna
employee volunteer effort helped make it possible for FCE to deliver
more than 250,000 meals to CARE FOR AIDS, a Kenya non-profit that
nourishes people living with AIDS and HIV, and to multiple sites within
the United States.

“Beyond our grant, our involvement with Feeding Children Everywhere
offers Cigna the opportunity to create our largest Cigna volunteer
efforts, enabling us to play a part in alleviating hunger in locations
all over the globe,” explained David Figliuzzi, executive director of
the Cigna Foundation.

The Cigna Foundation grant renewal will make it possible to continue the
“Cigna Fights Hunger” campaign with Feeding Children Everywhere, and
will provide meals in 2016 to the needy throughout the United States,
Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
