Dine With Your Dog Event Benefiting Pet Therapy at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Saturday

WHAT:

Dine With Your Dog is a unique dog-friendly event benefiting the
PetSmart Paws Can Heal Animal-Assisted Therapy program at Phoenix
Children’s Hospital. Amazing photos will be had when 100-plus dogs
hit the PetSmart Pet Carpet complete with green Astroturf, toys
and catered doggie-arrival treats as the canines arrive on the
scene at this posh fundraising event.

The event will be held at the air-conditioned Pavilion at the PERA
Club in Tempe starting at 5 p.m. and will feature photo opps on
the PetSmart Pet Carpet, gourmet human and canine dinners, a
chance to meet the hospital’s therapy dogs, and a message from a
Phoenix Children’s patient whose recovery was positively impacted
by the animal-assisted therapy program.

WHY:

Proceeds from the evening will go ‘straight to the dogs’ in
support of the PetSmart
Paws Can Heal Animal-Assisted Therapy program, which is funded
entirely through charitable donations. The 9^th Annual
Dine With Your Dog event will raise critical funds for the
program. Therapy dogs are crucial to the physical and emotional
well-being of patients at Phoenix Children’s, helping them forget
their pain and medical challenges, while also encouraging them
through rehabilitation. Dogs often encourage patients to get up,
walk, play, eat and take medications. Animal-assisted therapy dogs
at Phoenix Children’s are nationally certified and required to
have previous volunteer experience in a healthcare setting and
with children. Therapy dog teams visit patients in The Child Life
Zone and other common areas, as well as at their bedsides, and
make more than 10,000 patient visits annually.
