Ebates Holiday 2015 Survey: Americans Browse on Mobile, Buy on Laptops

Americans shop online to save time, find best prices, and take
advantage of free shipping

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Americans are choosing comfort and convenience over crowded stores and
long lines this holiday season. Ebates,
a pioneer and leader in online cash back shopping, released the results
of its 2015 Holiday survey which examined Americans’ online shopping
behavior.

Americans browse on mobile, buy from laptops

More than half of Americans (53 percent) are choosing to use their
laptops to shop this holiday season, followed by their home computer (39
percent) and their mobile phone (24 percent). Shoppers also plan to use
their mobile phones to research gifts before making their final
purchases, with 54 percent turning to their mobile phones before
purchasing on a computer.

The survey also revealed that 31 percent of Americans prefer shopping on
their tablets, but only 4 percent like shopping on their smart watches.

When asked why they prefer shopping online, 83 percent of Americans said
they most appreciate that it saves them time. This is followed by being
able to find lower prices on the items they want to buy (73 percent).
More than two thirds (69 percent) say free shipping keeps them shopping
online, while 62 percent appreciate not having to drive to the store,
and 61 percent like not having to deal with the holiday crowds.

Half of Americans admit that they end up doing last minute shopping
because there is always someone they have forgotten to buy a gift for,
and 31 percent will take advantage of free shipping and order these last
minute gifts online.

on behalf of Ebates.com in October 2015 among 1,128 adults ages 18 and
older and 516 teens ages 13-16. This online survey is not based on a
