eBay Celebrates #GivingTuesday With Hundreds of Unique Items and Experiences, Helping Shoppers Find Perfect Gifts That Give Back

eBay’s Charity Shop offers the chance to shop for good with
one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your list – from a styling session
with Rachel Bilson or a swim with Michael Phelps

SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–New data released today reveals nearly three-quarters of Americans (72%)
are more excited to give someone a gift if it benefits a charity.1
Just in time for Giving Tuesday, eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY) makes it easier than
ever for shoppers to support the causes that matter most to them –
delivering the widest selection of gifts that support nonprofits though
eBay’s Giving Tuesday Charity Shop (www.ebay.com/GivingTuesday)
and a new way to give in-kind donations through Gifts That Give Back (http://www.ebay.com/gtgb).

Established in 2003, eBay for Charity helps charities of all sizes raise
funds on eBay, one of the world’s most vibrant marketplaces for
discovering great value and unique selection. It also gives eBay users a
secure and efficient way of donating to a charity of their choice when
they buy or sell on the site. “eBay continues to leverage its
cutting-edge technology to help millions of shoppers support the causes
they care about,” said Hal Lawton, Senior Vice President of eBay North
America. “To-date, our community of buyers and sellers has raised more
than $650 million – whether it’s by listing or purchasing exclusive
items that benefit charity, or making donations at checkout. This
holiday season, our Giving Tuesday Charity Shop illustrates how
charitable giving remains a top priority for eBay, as we’ve sourced
one-of-a-kind inventory and experiences with proceeds going to charity.”

eBay’s Giving Tuesday Charity Shop provides consumers with an easy way
to shop hundreds of exclusive experiences and items from celebrities and
athletes, all benefiting charitable organizations. The majority of
Americans cite travel (49%), concert tickets (44%), and sporting tickets
(36%)1 as top gifts. The Giving Tuesday Charity Shop is
filled with hundreds of unique experiences across these categories,
making it a one-stop-shop for holiday gifting. From the chance to swim
with Michael Phelps or a private training session with Tracy Anderson,
to signed ballet shoes from Misty Copeland and a script from Susan
Sarandon, to VIP passes for the 59th Annual GRAMMY® Awards
and a wide variety of concerts, or iconic fashion pieces from Alicia
Keys’ personal wardrobe and a hand knitted scarf from Broad City’s Ilana
Glazer – there really is no shortage of gifts for good to choose from
with proceeds going to charity. And, as part of eBay’s partnership with
the U.S. Wildlife Trafficking Alliance, eBay shoppers have the
opportunity to bid on incredible experiences and artwork that directly
support reducing the purchasing and selling of illegal wildlife
products. Visit ebay.com/GivingTuesday
to see all the unique items and experiences.

Shopping in Style

Shoppers who purchase any experience or item from eBay’s Giving Tuesday
Charity Shop will have the chance to win an amazing Los Angeles
experience, including a personal styling session with actress and style
icon Rachel Bilson. To be automatically entered to win, simply bid on or
purchase any of the hundreds of gifts featured in the Charity Shop
between November 29 and December 25. A longtime advocate for women,
Rachel will also be supporting Afghan Hands, a nonprofit organization
that supports disadvantaged and disenfranchised women in Afghanistan.
From December 4 through 11, Afghan Hands will be the nonprofit featured
on eBay’s Give at Checkout, enabling shoppers to make a donation when
completing a purchase. With these proceeds, Afghan Hands will help women
gain independence, education and livable wages.

“This holiday season, I’m excited to partner with eBay for Charity on
their mission to help shoppers find gifts they’ll feel good about
giving. eBay’s Giving Tuesday Charity Shop is curated with truly
one-of-a-kind gifts –and, the best part is, they all support charity,”
said actress Rachel Bilson. “In the spirit of giving back, I’m offering
a personal styling session with me in L.A for one lucky winner who buys
a gift from eBay’s Giving Tuesday Shop between now until December 25.
I’m also proud to support one of my favorite nonprofits, Afghan Hands,
which will be featured in eBay’s Give at Checkout this December. On
eBay, there’s truly a gift for everyone on your list.”

Gifts That Give Back

To coincide with Giving Tuesday, eBay is introducing a pilot program,
Gifts That Give Back. Through partnerships with six leading charitable
organizations, including the American
Cancer Society
, American
Red Cross
, American
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
, CARE,
Habitat
for Humanity
and March
of Dimes
, shoppers can purchase symbolic gifts ranging from $25 to
$100. With Gifts That Give Back, 100% of the purchase price will support
the chosen charity and a digitally-delivered certificate means they make
great last-minute gift options for friends and family who want to
support a good cause this holiday season.

Technology For Good

eBay is leveraging its just launched eBay ShopBot
beta
– a personalized shopping assistant that uses artificial
intelligence, accessible for shoppers via Facebook Messenger – to make
giving even more social this holiday. For every item purchased through
eBay ShopBot on Giving Tuesday, eBay will donate $5 to nonprofit Kiva
(up to $50,000), which connects people through lending to alleviate
