EMPLOYERS Partners with Kids’ Chance of Nevada to Support the Educational Futures of Children Whose Parents Were Injured at Work

Governor Sandoval Proclaims Kids’ Chance Awareness Week November
13-17 to Shed Light on the Seriousness of Workplace Accidents and Raise
Awareness of Scholarship Fund

has signed on as the platinum sponsor of the newly formed non-profit, Kids’
Chance of Nevada
, a state chapter of the national organization, Kids’
Chance of America
. Kids’ Chance was established to create, assist
and support programs that provide educational opportunities and
scholarships for the children of workers who were disabled or killed in
a workplace accident.

There are approximately 4
million workplace injuries
in the United States annually, resulting
in about one million disabling injuries and 5,000 deaths.1 In
Nevada, workplace fatalities increased
by 10 percent from 2014 to 2015.2

The national Kids’ Chance of America scholarship fund, Planning
for the Future
, is an all-inclusive program designed to take some of
the financial burden of college off of families affected by workplace
injuries. The fund’s goal is to give students the tools they need for
success in the workplace as well as enable them to make a difference in
their own lives as well as the lives of others. Nationally, the
scholarship fund has assisted more than 6,000 students in pursuing their
education goals.

Kids’ Chance Awareness Week

To bring awareness to the national scholarship fund, Kids’ Chance of
America is celebrating Awareness Week, November 13-17, 2017. Nevada
Governor Brian Sandoval also has proclaimed
it Kids’ Chance Awareness Week.

In celebration, and to introduce the organization to the Nevada business
community and future scholarship recipients, Kids’ Chance of Nevada is
hosting a welcome
mixer
at The Martini, 1205 S. Fort Apache Rd, Las Vegas, NV on
November 15, 5:30 – 8:00 pm.
