First American Ranked Among the 2016 Best Workplaces for Women by Fortune and Great Place to Work®

SANTA ANA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–First
American Financial Corporation
(NYSE: FAF),
a leading global provider of title insurance, settlement services and
risk solutions for real estate transactions, announced today that Fortune®
and Great Place to Work® have recognized First American as
one of the 2016
Best Workplaces for Women
. The ranking is the result of an anonymous
survey of 137,762 women employees from a variety of companies
administered by Great Place to Work®, a global authority on
high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures.

Earlier in 2016, Fortune® magazine also recognized First
American as one of the 100
best companies to work for in America
, and in 2015 First American
was named by Fortune as one of the 10
Best Workplaces in Insurance
.

“This consistent national recognition as a premier employer over the
past two years is a reflection of the integrity, commitment and teamwork
that our people exhibit on a daily basis. First American’s reputation
for leadership and innovation in the title insurance and settlement
services industry is due to their focus,” said Dennis Gilmore, CEO,
First American Financial Corporation. “Earning a spot on the Best
Workplaces for Women means we’re attuned to what women see as priorities
in the workplace, which is especially important because women make up
nearly 70 percent of our employees and a significant proportion of our
customers. It comes back to our simple philosophy — we put people first.”

First American scored well against benchmarks on issues of how
frequently women experience the behaviors that create a great workplace,
including, for example, their assessment of how fairly they’re treated
regardless of gender, the quality and authenticity of communications
with managers, and equitable pay and promotion practices. Women’s
anonymous responses resulted in a total score for each company, which
was compared to the benchmark for organizations of that size, and ranked
accordingly.

“There’s a strong correlation between being able to talk openly with
company executives and feeling like a workplace is fair,”
said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®.
“Traditionally, communication channels with leaders have been less
available to women than to men. The Best Workplaces for Women do well at
paving the way for those open dialogs, and as a result, women are more
likely to feel they get fair consideration in their jobs and careers.
Congratulations to these great companies—they are showing everyone how
to create a great place to work for all.”

First American has earned recognition as a “best place to work” 38 times
in publications across the United States since 2012. Internationally,
the company’s Canadian subsidiary, FCT, was named by Great Place to Work®
as one of that country’s Top 50 Best Workplaces in 2015 and 2016, and a
2016 Best Workplace in Canada for Women.

The Best Workplaces for Women is one of a series of rankings by Great
Place to Work® and Fortune® based entirely upon
employee survey feedback. To see the complete list of the 2016 Best
