Health’s Mission

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–ICON
Eyecare
is pleased to continue its mission of providing world class
ophthalmology care by funding a gift to Denver Health. ICON Eyecare’s
contribution will be an integral part of Denver Health’s newest
community health center in southwestern Denver. The Southwest Family
Health Center will receive a capital gift of $200,000 in support of its
opening in April 2016.

In addition to the capital contribution, ICON Eyecare also announced its
new “365 CommUnity” initiative whereby ICON Eyecare’s Doctors and Care
Team associates will donate 365 days of volunteer care to community
health systems like Denver Health that serve low-income underserved
patients in Colorado and Texas.

The Southwest Family Health Center is Denver Health’s ninth community
health clinic and the first urgent care facility outside the main
campus. ICON Eyecare is proud to be contributing to Denver Health’s long
history of providing healthcare to underserved patients by its generous
donation to the new clinic.

“ICON Eyecare is a valuable member of the healthcare community in
Colorado,” said Art Gonzalez, CEO of Denver Health. “We are inspired by
their heartfelt commitment to our mission. This is not just a financial
commitment; this is a volunteer effort that can be a model for other
health systems in Denver and beyond.”

“From the moment we shared our vision for the Southwest Family Health
Center, it was evident that ICON Eyecare cared deeply for Denver
Health’s mission to provide care to underserved patients,” echoed Paula
Herzmark, Executive Director of the Denver Health Foundation. “Our
partnership is an opportunity to showcase how we can work together to
improve the health of our community.”

“This is a transformational moment for our company as we become a
bigger, more impactful healthcare provider in the state of Colorado,”
Rick Anderson, founder and CEO of ICON Eyecare said. “Our entire care
team is devoted and passionate about improving medical outcomes and
patient experiences and this gift to Denver Health is an extension of
the promise we make to our community. My business partner and I, Ryan
Heckman, president of ICON Eyecare, are honored to be doing our part on
behalf of our team.”

ICON Eyecare announced the gift to Denver Health along with the opening
of its new Medicare-certified ambulatory surgery center on October 1st.
Joining doctors, associates and co-managing optometrists in the
announcement were ICON Eyecare patient John Elway and the Honorable
Federico Peña, former mayor of Denver and Denver Health supporter.
