Keaton Raphael Memorial Reports Record Support for Northern California Children and Families During Child Cancer Awareness Month

New CEO, Reed Baumgarten, announces new grant funding for the Family
Navigator Program and presents checks for more than $225,000 to UC Davis
Comprehensive Cancer Center and Oakland Children’s Hospital for cancer
research

ROSEVILLE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Childhoodcancerawareness–With September Childhood Cancer Awareness Month under way, Keaton
Raphael Memorial (KRM)
announced new benchmarks of support and
progress in its mission. Through providing direct assistance and raising
funds for research, KRM offers Hope, Strength, and Healing for northern
California children and their families fighting and coping with cancer.

“Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is a great time to highlight and
celebrate the overwhelming support we’ve witnessed for KRM’s Family
Navigator Program which works directly with children and their
families,”
said Reed Baumgarten. This year’s “Roaring 20’s” themed
annual Kaleidoscope Gala set records for sponsorships and attendance.
Gala proceeds, individual and corporate donations, together with grant
funding support the Family Navigator Program.

According to Baumgarten, this year alone, KRM is providing direct
assistance to approximately 500 northern California families. This
includes financial, emotional and administrative support. “When the
community comes together to support a child and family in need, we all
benefit,”
he concluded.

Other September Awareness highlights include the announcement of
generous grants received from the Maximus
Foundation
and the City
of Roseville’s
Community Benefit Fund.

In addition to serving children and families, KRM also raises funds for
pediatric cancer research. This is conducted largely through a
partnership with St. Baldrick’s and a series of head shaving events that
KRM hosts each spring. At this year‘s Gala, KRM presented a check for
$126,154.39 to UC
Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center
. Later this month, the charity
will provide UCSF
Benioff Children‘s Hospital Oakland
with $99,354.06. Since its
founding in 1998, KRM has raised over $1.75 million for local research.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, KRM is appealing to supporters
to contribute pre-paid gas cards to help offset the costly travel and
other expenses that families incur while children are in treatment.
Anyone willing to assist can drop off a gas card of any value at Supercuts
Salons
throughout northern California.
