Love Your Melon Launches International Giving Program

New Partnership to Kick-Off International Expansion

MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Love
Your Melon
, an apparel brand dedicated to making a meaningful impact
in the lives of children battling cancer, today announces its first-ever
International Giving Program. The company will now be giving beanies to
children battling cancer all over the world through the Request a Hat
program as well as financial gifts to nonprofits fighting pediatric
cancer internationally.

As part of this international expansion, Love Your Melon’s new
partnership with Children’s Oncology Group (COG) will help doctors
around the world find treatments and cures for pediatric cancer. The
partnership with COG, an organization dedicated to providing new insight
for doctors worldwide, will provide an initial gift of $50,000 for Project:Every
Child
, a study that aims to capture the biology and outcome of every
child diagnosed with cancer in the United States and COG’s affiliated
countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia.

“By partnering with Children’s Oncology Group we are expanding our reach
to a global scale,” said Love Your Melon CEO, Zachary Quinn. “Our
partnership will allow doctors around the world to study DNA samples
from pediatric cancer patients and families and apply the knowledge to
their research, ultimately leading to better treatments and cures.”

Love Your Melon will support and encourage children globally by
expanding the Request
a Hat
program, a program that gives friends and family the
opportunity to request a hat online and surprise a child battling cancer
with a Love Your Melon beanie. Crew Abroad volunteers will deliver the
beanies starting with Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Since the company’s beginning, Love Your Melon has given more than
125,000 beanies to children battling cancer and more than 2.7 million
dollars to its nonprofit partners in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Love Your Melon apparel is sold at loveyourmelon.com
and 50 percent of profit is given to Love Your Melon’s nonprofit
partners
in the fight against pediatric cancer.

ABOUT CHILDREN’S ONCOLOGY GROUP

The Children’s Oncology Group (COG) is the world’s largest organization
devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. The COG
unites nearly 10,000 experts in childhood cancer at more than 200
leading children’s hospitals, universities, and cancer centers around
the world in the fight against cancer. Today, more than 90 percent of
the 14,000 children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer each year in
the United States are cared for at COG member institutions. COG’s
mission is to improve the cure rate and outcome for all children with
cancer. For more information, visit childrensoncologygroup.org.

Project:EveryChild is a single research study run by the COG that aims
to capture the biology and outcome of every child diagnosed with cancer
in the United States and COG’s affiliated countries. Participation is
offered to every child diagnosed with cancer, no matter how common or
rare the cancer may be. The ultimate goal is to collect key clinical
data on disease presentation, therapeutic approaches and outcomes, while
also collecting biospecimens (including tumor samples, and
child/parental DNA) that will be stored at COG’s state-of-the-art
biorepository at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. These biospecimens and
the associated biology/treatment data will be made available to
scientists around the world in an unprecedented, collaborative effort to
find better cures for children with cancer.
