More Than 80 Physicians from Long Beach Memorial & Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach Recognized by Leading Doctor’s Report

“2016 Southern California Super Doctors” Recognizes Top Five
Percent of Physicians

LONG BEACH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Long
Beach Memorial
and Miller
Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach
announced today that 83
of its physicians have been recognized among the best in their fields by
the 2016
Southern California Super Doctors
report, two more physicians
compared to last year’s record total.

The 2016 Southern California Super Doctors report recognizes the top
five percent of active doctors in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The
selection process relies on 10 indicators of peer recognition and
professional achievement, surveying physicians in Southern California
and ensuring the physicians named are the most respected and talented in
their fields.

“Every year, we see more of our physicians recognized for their
excellent quality of work and innovative solutions they provide on
behalf of our patients,” says Suzie Reinsvold, COO, Miller Children’s &
Women’s Hospital Long Beach. “It’s encouraging to know that every parent
or child entering our doors is immediately under the watch of the best
team of doctors in the area, known for their ability to manage complex
conditions and deliver compassionate care.”

Since 2012, Long Beach Memorial has seen year-to-year growth annually in
the amount of physicians recognized by Super Doctors. The list has grown
by more than 50 percent during this timeframe.

Since the Super Doctors report expanded to include all of Southern
California in 2008, Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s and Community
Hospital Long Beach have had 26 physicians achieve this status for eight
years straight, showcasing a prolonged standard of excellence and
continuity of world class care for patients.

The hospitals have also been tirelessly recruiting the next generation
of brilliant doctors for Long Beach residents. Six physicians are making
their first appearance on the list in 2016, their highest debut total
ever.

“The physicians we recruit are driven by their dedication to our
patients, their families and the community they serve,” says Susan
Melvin, D.O., chief medical officer, Long Beach Memorial. “Their passion
is not found in collecting achievements but in finding advancements in
clinical care that can greatly improve the lives of the many families
who need our help. On behalf of the entire Long Beach Memorial staff, we
are all proud to work alongside so many awarded physicians.”

The Super Doctors peer review selection process asks doctors to nominate
fellow physicians by answering the question, “If you needed medical
care, which doctor would you choose?” In addition, candidates were
evaluated based on professional achievement, as well as the Super
Doctors’ ‘blue ribbon panel review’ process, where physicians in more
than 30 specialties evaluate the list of nominees.

Long Beach Memorial and Miller Children’s physicians were recognized in
areas including pediatrics, obstetrics and maternal fetal medicine,
gynecology and gynecologic oncology, cardiology and cardiothoracic
surgery, urology, family and internal medicine, surgery, medical
oncology and hematology, dermatology, ophthalmology, pediatric and adult
gastroenterology, pediatric hematology/oncology, physical
medicine/rehabilitation and pediatric rehab (physiatry), reconstructive
plastic surgery, neurointerventional radiology, orthopedic surgery,
otolaryngology, sleep medicine, reproductive endocrinology, pediatric
and adult critical care medicine and more.
