New Prime Vendor Deal Between Medline and Guardian Elder Care Aims to Enhance Quality of Patient Care

Medline selected for ability to provide strategic tools that measure
outcomes and strong manufacturing background

MUNDELEIN, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Healthcare organizations need vendors who can support their medical
supply needs, create efficiencies, measure and track results, and
provide continuing education to clinicians to help them perform at their
best. Guardian
Elder Care
, a healthcare organization that provides skilled nursing,
personal care, and independent living services to communities in
Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, has awarded Medline with a new
prime vendor agreement.

Through this three-year deal, leading medical supplier Medline will
provide Guardian Elder Care with an extensive portfolio of essential
supplies that will better position the system to streamline supply chain
operations and simultaneously manage costs. Such products include Ultrasorbs®
AP Underpads
, Heelmedix
Heel Protection Devices
, and the Medline
Remedy® Phytoplex™
line, a unique sensitive skin formula that uses
plant-based ingredients and no perfumes to nourish, moisturize and
soothe the skin. By utilizing Medline’s online reporting tool called
Medline INSIGHT, Guardian Elder Care will have the ability to easily
monitor key metrics such as item utilization, contract compliance, price
accuracy and spend by product categories.

“With decades of supply chain experience, our Medline sales
representatives understand the challenges and pain points long-term care
facilities face,” said Matt Van Zelst, vice president of national
accounts for post-acute care, Medline. “We’re dedicated to standing by
Guardian Elder Care’s side and providing them with high-quality products
and solutions to meet their clinical and financial goals.”

Furthermore, as the timely delivery of products is critical to providing
quality patient care, Medline’s distribution centers in Canton, Ohio,
Baltimore Md. and Middletown, N.Y. will help Guardian Elder Care’s
entities quickly receive products, when and where they need them.

“Our new partnership with Medline will support our ongoing efforts
around our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement process, as we
serve our senior community and those in need of rehab,” said Cindy
Kreider, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at Guardian Elder
Care. “Providing ongoing evidence-based education is beneficial to our
patients and staff. Having such resources as Medline University readily
available to our clinicians is an added value.”

Approaching its 10 year anniversary in 2016, Medline
University
offers over 250 courses used by more than 700,000
registered users from nurses, healthcare assistants, dieticians, nursing
