Actors Dylan McDermott and Jamie Lee Curtis Curate Saatchi Art
Photographers’ Works for Exclusive Online Exhibition
SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Saatchi
Art today announced that, as part of its ongoing Guest Curator
Series, actors Dylan McDermott and Jamie Lee Curtis have curated online
photography exhibitions exclusively for Saatchi Art featuring works from
the online gallery’s emerging artists worldwide.
Photography plays a large role in both actors’ lives, and through their
online exhibitions, both present a distinct perspective on the medium
and what appeals to them.
McDermott took up photography in 1986 and, ever since, has been
traveling with his camera wherever his filming locations take him. He
most recently presented
“Street Life,” a pop-up exhibition at the New York Edition Hotel.
He recounted why he chose the works
for his Saatchi Art exhibition, saying, “Each one of these pictures
provoked a memory for me … some forgotten, some remembered. They all
made me feel something. That’s all I ever want in a photograph.”
Jamie Lee Curtis has been recognized by Artnet News as one of the
world’s 12 most influential photography collectors. A photographer
herself, Curtis has judged numerous photography shows, including Paris
Photo Los Angeles’ 2015 Introducing! Young California Photographer
Award, and served as curator for the Frostig Collection’s 2013
photography exhibition.
Curtis said about her Saatchi
Art exhibition: “It’s hard to put into words what pleases one’s eye.
Mine is an eclectic one. A stillness yet a fluidity. I like darkness but
also color.”
