SeaWorld San Diego Holds Most Unique Hollywood Casting Call in History as Auditioners Compete to Earn World’s First Performing Arts “B.A.” (Balancing Arts) Degree

Talent Scouts in Search of “Delicate
Daredevils” Put Wild Array of Aerialists, Stilt Walkers, Flaming
Jugglers, Wire Walkers, Cyr Performers, Power Skippers, Russian Bar
Performers, and Poi Ballers Through Exotic “Feats of Feet”

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Scores of aspirants who live “balanced lives” were put through their
paces in some of the entertainment world’s most dizzying and dangerous
performances as they strove for roles in one of the country’s biggest
nighttime spectaculars, “Electric Ocean” planned for SeaWorld San Diego
this summer.

SeaWorld San Diego’s new nighttime spectacular — Electric Ocean — will
transform the park this summer into a sea of glowing color and energy,
inspired by the phenomenon of ocean bioluminescence with the world’s
most unusual performers.

The auditions, conducted at the famed Hollywood training facility Cirque
L.A., offered the entertainment’s world’s first true opportunity for
“higher education” culminating with the granting of the only B.A. degree
that really matters — a B.A. degree for “Balancing Arts.” The “chosen
ones” received their degrees in a very special ceremony by balancing in
a world of fire and danger. Literally.

“The new Electric Ocean is an example of how we’re integrating emerging
technologies and performers to raise the bar — even if it’s on fire,”
said Rick Schuiteman, SeaWorld San Diego’s vice president of
entertainment. “Lasers and lights will create a fantastical simulated
underwater experience, like the Northern Lights, but inspired by the sea
with “bioluminescent” animals floating through the sky. This unique
nighttime event will transform the park into a canvas painted with
light. It’s a reinvention of what a nighttime experience in a theme park
can be.”
