Time Warner Cable Deportes Announces On-Air Team Dedicated to Coverage of the LA Galaxy

Time Warner Cable Deportes today announced the on-air team that will be dedicated to its comprehensive coverage of the LA Galaxy. Among the list of seasoned presenters are Martin “El Pulpo” Zúñiga, Elmur Souza, Enrique Aníbal Gutiérrez, Hipólito Gamboa, Ricardo Celis and Samuel Jacobo.

The announcement comes ahead of the network’s exclusive telecast of the LA Galaxy match against Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles on February 19 live from the Home Depot Center in Carson.

Known for his 14-year career as a professional soccer player in Mexico and the United States, Zúñiga will continue as soccer analyst for the network and lead commentary for all LA Galaxy games. Prior to joining Time Warner Cable Deportes last fall, Zúñiga called soccer matches for the Mexican soccer league, Major League Soccer, Fox Deportes, KWHY-TV’s “Mundo Deportivo Polémico” and Azteca America including the UEFA Champions League, Copa Libertadores and Italy’s Serie A.

Recognized as the “Aztec Narrator of the U.S.,” for his enthusiastic play by play delivery, Jacobo is the most recent addition to the team at Time Warner Cable Deportes and will accompany Zuniga in the broadcast booth providing play-by-play commentary for all LA Galaxy games on the network. Prior to joining the network, Jacobo was a broadcaster for Fox Deportes, HBO, ESPN Radio Los Angeles, Prime Ticket and KMEX Univision Los Angeles. His experience with on-air commentary extends into soccer, boxing and basketball, covering events such as Copa Libertadores and the World Cup.

Souza is lead team and soccer analyst for the network and will be charged with covering every aspect of the LA Galaxy. Souza will travel with the team throughout the season; he will attend and report on training sessions and lead all sideline commentary for the team. Souza spent seven years working for Fox Deportes as well as working at TVC Deportes, Megacanal, ESPN Deportes Radio, KWHY-TV’s “Mundo Deportivo Polémico,” Televisa Radio and other Mexican media outlets.

Covering the team through exclusive behind-the-scenes content and alternating as in-studio analysis will be the networks’ Enrique Aníbal Gutiérrez, Hipólito Gamboa and Ricardo Celis.

To enhance team coverage, special guest commentators including Christian Bozzo and Steve Sampson will also join the team during live game and in-studio presentations. One of the most accomplished coaches in the history of U.S. soccer; Sampson’s credits include work with Televisa Deportes, Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN Deportes, Telemundo and Univision bringing his expert analysis to events including the Euro Cup in 2010 as well as the 2002 and 2010 World Cups.
