Dale! Pitbull represents all Latinos at MTV’s VMAs

If he’s not wearing white capris in Brazil, he’s getting nominated at the VMAs. On that point, I think it’s safe to say the 2014 is…

He sang the official 2014 World Cup song, he’s a college honorary and now he’s nominated for a MTV Video Music Award. This has to be the year for Pitbull. (Photo by Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP)

If he’s not wearing white capris in Brazil, he’s getting nominated at the VMAs. On that point, I think it’s safe to say the 2014 is definitely Pitbull’s year.

Mr. Worldwide has been unstoppable since January. He took the reigns of the official World Cup song this year with “We Are One (Ole, Ola)”  along with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte.

He also made everyone happy after receiving an honorary degree from Miami’s Doral College early this month, only to pose with the plaque in one hand and flipping the bird on the other.

Now, Mr. 305 is nominated for a 2014 MTV Video Music Award for Best Collaboration with Kesha in “Timber.”

The catchy tune is up against tough competitors such as Beyonce ft. Jay Z’s “Drunk in Love,” Katy Perry ft. Juicy J’s “Dark Horse” and Eminem ft. Rihanna “The Monster.”

Though the country/dance/urban jam garnered Pitbull and Kesha the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Award for best duo, is the song hot enough to nab the silver moon man?

This isn’t the first time Pitbull’s name shows up on the popular award categories.

The Miami-based rapper has been picked up by MTV five times in the past four years; however, our very own Latino MC has yet to take a VMA home.

But Pitbull is not the only Latino artist on the list.

Joining him is the girl group Fifth Harmony, who we mention on behalf of two of their Latina members, Camila Cabello and Lauren Jauregui.

The girls are nominated for Artist to Watch, against up-an-comers 5 Seconds of Summer, Charli XCX, Sam Smith and Schoolboy Q.

And in case you were wondering, Beyonce –the most powerful celebrity of 2014– leads the VMAs with eight nominations.

Although we have the feeling that Beyonce and Jay Z will take the title for “Best Duo,” we really hope that Pitbull nabs the title. Dale!

Pitbull lands a MTV VMA nomination.
