Real Madrid have finally acquired their target in James Rodriguez, the saga to sign the Colombian international appears to have come to a happy end for both the player and the club.

The World Cup Golden Boot winner will fulfill a childhood dream of playing with the 10-time European Champion.

“Madrid have agreed to pay €75 ($101) million for James, although this figure could rise to €80m ($108m) on account of a series of add-ons. Originally, the sum contemplated by the Madrid club was not supposed to exceed €60m ($81m),” Marca reported.

“James will sign a six-year deal with the current champions of Europe, in what has become common practice for Real’s recent signings. The player will take home around €7 million net per season. These terms were agreed several days ago and the deal is awaiting the finishing touches to be added,” they also reported.

The future Madrid number 10 was spotted in Madrid’s airport on Sunday on his way back to Monaco. He, however, did not want to speak about his move to the Spanish capital.

He was expected to join his Monaco teammates in Miami on Monday.

James Rodriguez expected to be presented on Tuesday

“Real plan to unveil the player at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday. Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sánchez will delay their trip to the USA, where the first team squad travel on Monday for a pre-season tour. James will join up with the squad, together with Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema, on August 1,” AS reported.

“At the Bernabeu, everything is in place for the unveiling: the President’s suite has been ready since last Thursday when Toni Kroos was presented and there is even a plaque bearing his name on his future room – No.110, at the players’ residence in Valdebebas. James will wear the number 10 shirt which was last worn by Mesut Ozil,” they also reported.
