Spanish Queen Letizia is one of the most beautiful and glamorous royals on Earth. With that said, her extreme thinness has always triggered rumors of anorexia or another eating disorder.

Tired of those malicious comments, Letizia has decided to speak publicly about her eating habits, making it clear that she maintains her figure with a very healthy diet and, like her new friend Michelle Obama, is very concerned about the subjects of nutrition and health. Therefore, at public events with children, she doesn’t hesitate to recommend that they don’t eat sweets because they are bad for their health.

In addition, at a recent event held by the ABC newspaper, the Queen encouraged the guests to eat healthy and she confessed she often has a three-egg omelet for breakfast.

Journalists soon investigated more about the eating habits of Letizia and found out she’s following the “Perricone diet.”

What is Dr. Perricone’s method?

Dr. Michael Perricone is a dermatologist and professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan. He is the author of bestsellers like “The Perricone Promise,” “The Wrinkle Cure and The Perricone Weight Loss Diet.” As he explains on his website, “wrinkled and sagging skin is not the result of aging but a disease caused by cellular inflammation that can be cured by a special diet and cosmetic care.”

According to Dr. Perricone, the combination of a healthy diet and natural supplements that enhance the beauty and cosmetic treatments (with his own products, of course) is the formula that can stop or even reverse the cellular inflammation that is causing skin to look dull and age prematurely.

Besides Queen Letizia, other celebrity followers of the Perricone method are Eva Mendes, Uma Thurman and Anna Wintour.

But what about normal women, who don’t have time or money to follow the diet by the book or buy Dr. Perricone’s method? Well, we took note of the advice that he suggests on his website, and offer some healthier habits for health and beauty you can adopt.

These are the keys of Dr. Perricone’s method:

  • Say goodbye to the foods that make the skin sag, pouty, and tired looking. This includes rice, processed bakery products, sugar, coffee, packaged juices and beverages. And of course, get rid of heavily processed, pre-made meals and fast food menus.
  • Follow an anti-inflammatory diet, healthy for your body and beauty. You should fill your fridge with:
  • Drinks: mineral water, tea (green, black and white), granada juice, red wine (in moderation).
  • Legumes: Beans and lentils.
  • Nuts (raw, no salt or sugar): Hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds.
  • Fruit and vegetables in abundance.
  • Fish and seafood, preferably wild salmon. Also herring, sardines, mackerel, crab or shrimp.
  • Whole grains: Oats, barley, quinoa.
  • Natural sweeteners like honey and stevia.
  • Dairy: Yogurt, kefir and low-fat cheeses, such as goat cheese, ricotta, mozzarella.
  • Eat organic chicken and turkey meat.
  • Healthy Fats: Extra virgin olive oil, avocado, flax oil, coconut.
  • Add supplements that have demonstrated efficacy for healthy skin and body. Some of them are Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Vitamin C, Coenzyme Q-10 and Alpha Lipoic Acid.
  • Always use a non-chemical sunscreen to prevent the aggressions of the sun, even in winter.
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes no smoking, no drinking and physical exercise.
  • For an immediate anti-inflammatory effect, follow “Dr. Perricone’s Three Day Nutritional Face Lift.” It’s rich in antioxidants and, according to him, it will significantly improve the state of your skin.
