Nowadays Latinos are the new trendsetters in American culture and they’re becoming even more present in current tabloids, gossip columns, and TV shows that Americans avidly watch for entertainment. On that note, let’s see who are the 10 most influential Latinos in the United States today.

Jennifer Lopez

JLo is one of the most famous Latinas in America. Singer, actress, dancer, choreographer, television, and music producer are among her talents. She is a remarkable business entrepreneur as a fashion designer and perfumer, in addition to having become an important American philanthropist.

With her unmistakable style, perseverance, and effort to accomplish her goals, Lopez has earned the respect and admiration of the Latin community in the United States as well.

Selena is a young and outstanding actress and singer. Her role in Wizards of Waverly Place, got her noticed, reaching large audiences. She received her first platinum album with “Naturally” and later on, she received a gold record for “When The Sun Goes Down.” She is an ambassador for UNICEF, making her the youngest artist to undertake on that role.

Manu Ginóbili

He’s one of the most important Latino sports stars in America. As a player for the San Antonio Spurs, he won four NBA championships and was twice member of the All Star NBA. He is considered to be one of the best basketball players of all-times born outside the U.S., and is also Argentina’s basketball team star.

Sonia Sotomayor

She is the first Latina and third woman in history to be nominated for the Supreme Court of the United States.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Princeton University with Summa Cum Laude and the Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. She was, at the same time, the first Latin federal judge in New York and the youngest judge in the Southern District. Her hard work and dedication is reflected in her memoir “My Beloved World.”

Christina Aguilera

A successful singer and songwriter, Aguilera started her career in All New Mickey Mouse Club and leapt to fame with “Genie In A Bottle,” which won her a Grammy. The extreme emotions and sexual charge in “Dirrty’ have pulled her to the top. She is an Ambassador against hunger for the “World Food Program,” and was in Haiti helping the earthquake victims.

Is a journalist, writer, and newscast anchor on Univision Network. Time magazine mentioned him as one of the 25 most influential Latinos in United States, Newsweek mentioned him too as one among the 50 most important politicians and correspondents of the country, and Pew Hispanic Center as the second most recognized Latino leader of North America.

Latino Leaders named him as one of the 10 most admired Latinos in United States and he’s part of the 101 most notable leaders of the Latin community fin People magazine in Spanish, which includes 100 influential Latinos of in North America. Jorge Ramos Avalos has published nine books.

Eva Longoria

Her skillful role as the sexy and intriguing Gabrielle on Desperate Housewives catapulted her to fame.

She won the award for Best Actress from the American Latino Media Arts (ALMA), the Screen Actors Guild Outstanding Performance Award and the Golden Globe for Best Female Performance in a TV series. Longoria was also proclaimed to be one of the 50 most beautiful in People magazine. She’s also the national spokesperson for “Parents Against Cancer,” a nonprofit organization that helps Latino children with cancer.

Maria Teresa Kumar

Is a lawyer, and the founder and CEO of Voto Latino. Hispanic Business ranks her among the 100 most influential Latinos in United States. She’s one of the 10 most powerful women in Washington according to Elle for her work managing to add more than 225,000 new Latino voters. She’s been invited to numerous television programs.

Marc Anthony
