Fashion

I really love beautiful, well-made clothes. I don’t shop [a lot], so I tend to have pieces for a long time. I like mixing vintage with newer designers.

I don’t buy anything trendy. I used to be more easily seduced by some momentary idea of what was fashionable. Now I’m slightly savvier. I still have the same ideas in my head about what looks good on me and what doesn’t. I still will not wear turtlenecks.

I never dress up that much. I used to dress up way too much in my professional life, or when I went to the theater.

I always reach for my black Guy Laroche dress that I’ve had for 10 years: I’ve worn it to birthdays, funerals, everything. I’ve never dry-cleaned it!

What’s the first thing you put on in the morning? Whatever’s practical for being a mother. I walk my son to school, and I don’t want to embarrass him.

I’m never without my Vintage Ray Ban Sunglasses. I am my mother’s daughter.

I still believe in thrift stores: It’s the one place you can be assured of finding something very unique.

Beauty

For someone like myself who doesn’t love the look of a lot of makeup, Laura Mercier foundation is a wonderful light base. Evens out complexion in a demure way and never looks mask-like. It absorbs in beautifully to give a fresh, even look.

I like washing my hair with Bumble and bumble’s Sunday Shampoo. It’s about the only shampoo that gives my hair that squeaky clean feeling that I had as a child.

Use any cream that says “elimination” in big bold leters on the jar! I swear by Garnier Ultra Lif cream. It targets wrinkles and dryness as well as being really inexpensive.

This is a very hard industry to age in, that’s for sure. And so I’m sympathetic, but it’s not just the entertainment industry, it’s everywhere. It’s crazy! I believe in buying as many anti-aging creams as possible!
