Colonial Life launches Spanish benefits learning center

New Spanish-language website helps booming customer group build benefits knowledge

Colonial Life has launched a new Spanish-language version of its popular Benefits Learning Center website to better serve the country’s fastest-growing demographic group.

Colonial Life’s benefitslearningcenter.com site helps Spanish-speaking employees build their benefits knowledge and prepare for their enrollments in their preferred language. It includes an “En Español” tab that brings up a new landing page in Spanish. The page includes a welcome message, 30-second commercial, product videos and some additional product information in Spanish.

The free site is open to the public and isn’t limited to Colonial Life customers. Colonial Life also offers employers customizable versions with the core benefits and specific voluntary products available for their employees, their enrollment dates and a call to action.

The new Spanish Benefits Learning Center will significantly expand Colonial Life’s benefits communication and education offerings for this growing demographic group, said Dana Bagwell, director of benefits communication and education at Colonial Life.

“By mid-century, nearly one in three U.S. residents will be Hispanic, so it only makes sense to offer stronger support for benefits education for these customers,” Bagwell said. “This new capability responds to a frequent request from our sales organization to meet customers’ needs and helps round out a fuller suite of Spanish-language benefits communication tools.”

The Benefits Learning Center includes information on different kinds of insurance coverage, what each type covers and what it may exclude. Visitors to the site can watch entertaining animated videos that explain different types of popular benefits — life, disability, accident, cancer, critical illness and hospital confinement insurance — and the need for them. The center also offers information on financial protection, insurance terms and changing needs at different life stages. In addition, employees can find answers to frequently asked benefits questions.

Research shows most employees don’t actively search for information about their benefits and don’t dedicate a significant amount of time to learning more about them.* The Benefits Learning Center offers important benefits information with minimal effort.

“Most employees these days say their benefits are just as valuable to them as their paychecks,” Bagwell said. “This new tool gives them easy access to the information they need to make informed benefits decisions, all in one place.”
