Midtown Athletic Clubs Announces Construction of Midtown Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown in Chicago

$75 million project slated for completion in July 2017 will create
America’s largest athletic club, 55-room boutique hotel

CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Midtown Athletic Clubs today announced the construction of Midtown
Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown in Chicago. The $75 million
project is slated for completion in July 2017, and will include
additions and renovations to Midtown’s flagship property, which was
originally constructed in 1970 as the world’s largest indoor tennis club.

Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown, and the entire shopping complex
surrounding the property. A long-term partner of Midtown Athletic Club

DMAC welcomed the opportunity to work with tennis star Venus Williams,
and hired her interior design firm, V STARR Interiors, to design the
club’s Tennis Lounge and The V Suite – one of the hotel’s four private
suites. Williams played on Midtown’s courts as a junior tennis star
alongside her sister Serena. Midtown will also feature EleVen by Venus
Williams, Williams’ active wear line, at the club’s boutique shop.

“I’ve always respected Midtown Athletic Clubs, and it was meaningful to
return in a new capacity, this time combining my passion for tennis,
with design and hospitality,” said Venus Williams. “V STARR’s design for
the project reflects the timeless sophistication of Midtown’s beloved
establishment, while drawing from my own experiences.”

When complete, Midtown Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown
will be the largest premier health-and-fitness property in the U.S. at
more than 575,000 square feet. Midtown is located at the crossroads of
some of Chicago’s most vibrant neighborhoods – Bucktown, Lincoln Park,
Lakeview and Logan Square.

• 24,000 square foot outdoor pool and sun deck, with 25-yard lap pool,
  hydrotherapy pool and kids pool, which will be converted to an ice
  skating rink in the winter
