Prudential ranks as an Adoption-Friendly Workplace

Company cited for financial assistance and paid leave to employees
that adopt.

NEWARK, N.J.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE:PRU) employee adoption benefits have
been recognized by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption on the
organization’s 2015
Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List
.

“We are pleased to be recognized for the tenth consecutive year for our
family friendly adoption benefits,” says Maureen Corcoran, vice
president of Health, Life and Inclusion. “Supporting employees who wish
to adopt demonstrates our commitment to helping them achieve both their
personal and professional goals. It’s also an acknowledgement that we
value the diversity of ways our employees build their families.”

Prudential employees are reimbursed up to $10,000 per adopted child and
receive up to 26 weeks of parental leave. There is no limit on the
number of adoptions that can be covered in a year or career. In
addition, Prudential offers counseling services and referral programs to
help employees through the adoption process. For employees who are
foster parents, the company also provides $1,000 per calendar year for
new, foster care placements.

The announcement of the 2015 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list
comes the month preceding National Adoption Month, a collective campaign
to raise awareness of the children in foster care waiting to get adopted.

Since 2007, the Dave
Thomas Foundation for Adoption
has compiled an annual list of
the 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces to honor employers who
offer the best adoption benefits in the U.S. The rankings, compiled from
an annual survey of U.S. employers, are determined by an analysis
of each company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum financial
reimbursement and the amount of paid leave provided for employees who
adopt. New to this year’s campaign is the emerging leaders category so
the Foundation can recognize even more adoption-friendly workplaces.

“Employers who offer adoption benefits understand that the initial needs
of adoptive families are no different than families formed biologically
– it helps ensure all families are treated equally by companies,” said
Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Foundation. “We are elated to see
even more companies in the last year implement adoption-friendly and
foster care-friendly benefits.”

The ninth annual Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list also helps
increase foster care adoption awareness while celebrating businesses
that support adoptive families. There are more than 100,000 children in
the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted. Every year, more than
20,000 children in foster care turn 18 and age out of the system without
families.

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national nonprofit public
charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more
than 134,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems.
Created by Wendy’s® founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the
