University of Phoenix Executive Dean Dr. Constance St. Germain Appointed to the Arizona Child and Family Advocacy Network Board of Directors

Participation affirms University’s ongoing commitment to public
service

PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#UOPXCares–University of Phoenix® College of Humanities and Social Sciences today
announced the appointment of Executive Dean Dr. Constance St. Germain to
the Arizona
Child and Family Advocacy Network (ACFAN)
Board of Directors. ACFAN
is a community resource, which provides support, training and guidance
to professionals through advocacy centers in Arizona who coordinate
services and respond to family violence and sexual assault.

Dr. St. Germain will join other Valley leaders who share the mission of
providing education, training and mentorship to organizations and
individuals looking to provide support services to those who suffer from
domestic and sexual abuse throughout Arizona.

“University of Phoenix has a strong tradition of commitment to public
service in those communities where our students, faculty and staff, live
and work,” said Dr. St. Germain. “It is our responsibility to educate
and support students committed to public service, in order to help
prepare them to work in organizations that serve abused and neglected
children, as well as sexual and domestic violence victims, such as those
within the Arizona Child Family and Family Advocacy Network.”

Preparing advocacy centers in Arizona and the professionals so they can
properly respond to violence and sexual assault is a vital part to
further reduce short-term and long-term effects caused by domestic and
sexual violence. In 2013, 35 programs in Arizona served 1,796 victims of
domestic violence in one 24-hour period1. In order to
continue to provide support services for victims, it is imperative that
access to education and guidance be made available for community
resources like ACFAN.

“We’ve found it essential to create new partnerships that will enhance
discussions and activities that will help further sustain and improve
our programs, as well as the advocacy centers, to better serve our
communities,” said Kathy McLaughlin, Executive Director, Arizona Child
and Family Advocacy Network. “We are thrilled to have Dr. Constance St.
Germain on the board to provide guidance that will help us better serve
our centers across Arizona.”
