Elvis: Austin Butler lost his mother at the same age that Elvis Presley lost his. He talks about it
Austin Butler plays Elvis Presley in the new Elvis movie directed by Baz Luhrmann. In this interview he talks about how he prepared for the role: “I don’t think there is anything on Elvis that I have not seen”.
Butler was born exactly 14 years and 1 day after Elvis died. So he didn’t knwo much about the rock and roll icon before this movie, and never thought about portrying him. That said, the resemblance in the movie is astonishing.
He was also surprised by the fact that Elvis had a still born twin brother. And the coincidence that Elvis lost his mother when he was 23, the same age that Butler had when he lost his mother.
