prison for covering up an election law violation and uncovered the
greatest crime of all: the waste of untapped human potential of
those with whom he was serving time. Now an assistant professor at
The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs,
Management, and Urban Planning and the author of Mr. Smith Goes
to Prison: What My Year Behind Bars Taught Me About America’s
Prison Crisis, Smith is an advocate promoting practical
solutions to the broken criminal justice system and true
rehabilitation for the millions living behind bars.
