St Patrick’s Day Attire with a twist!
It’s March and even the non-Irish individuals get ready for the big St Patricks Day celebration. Some march in Irish pride parades, others celebrate in the comfort of their homes or attend church while others go bar hopping and get completely wasted. But what exactly is being celebrated every March 17th and why do we see everyone wearing green? Although celebrated mostly by the Irish, St. Patrick was actually born in England arguably in the 4th century and passed away march 17th, 461. (you read right- he wasn’t Irish!) He was captured by Celtic raiders and spent several years as a slave in Ireland time in which he became deeply devoted to Christianity through constant prayer. In less than 30 years, he baptized, confirmed, ordained priests and erected schools and monasteries managing to spread Christianity far and wide. It is believed that St.Patrick used a shamrock to explain the holy trinity. In Irish legends, it is believed that green was worn by fairies and immortals and also worn to help make a good growing season for their crops hence becoming the color for St. Patrick’s Day in the late 19th century. Every March 17th, St. Patrick is honored although a religious holiday, it became an official feast day in the 17th century. Well Chicas now that you know that green means “good luck” it wouldn’t hurt to dress in all green, right? Let’s not get too color happy now! The twist here is to utilize different shades of green to avoid looking like the leprechaun’s helper. There are various shades of green that can definitely compliment an outfit to make it look both classy and chic. By opting for different shades of green rather than one big blob of neon green you will avoid looking like you have a costume on. Your accessories do not necessarily have to be the same color as your outfit but if you choose to use the same shade then go for something darker than what you’re wearing. You do not have to limit yourself to wearing only pants! You can opt for a dress, skirt or a suit. You can also add other colors of your choice to create your look and make it trendy. As always chicas, Have fun with what you’re wearing and make it your own with personal touches and confidence.
