Former Dodger Milton Bradley is arrested
The former baseball player is booked on suspicion of felony assault after he allegedly swung a baseball bat at his wife in their San Fernando Valley home.
Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Milton Bradley was arrested after allegedly swinging a bat at his wife in their San Fernando Valley home, Los Angeles police said Wednesday.
Bradley, 33, was booked on suspicion of felony assault Tuesday at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division jail
Police responded to a domestic violence call at Bradley’s residence in the 5300 block of Oak Park Court. Investigating officers said the incident began as a verbal argument that escalated when Bradley took out a baseball bat and began swinging it at his wife, who ran out of the home. Authorities said she was not struck with the bat.
Bradley got into his car and sped away before he was tracked down by officers from the LAPD’s West Valley Division on nearby Amestoy Avenue, where he was detained without incident.
Bradley has been released on $30,000 bail and is due back in court Oct. 18.
The former Dodger was involved in a previous incident involving his wife at his home Jan. 18, when he was arrested on suspicion of making threats against her.
The Los Angeles city attorney’s office later announced that it would not file charges in that case but instead brought Bradley in for a hearing to discuss “the most appropriate course of action” to resolve the case.
Bradley, who was released by the Seattle Mariners earlier this year, has a history of anger-management issues on and off the baseball field.
In November 2004, he was arrested after allegedly confronting a police officer during a traffic stop in Ohio.
The Dodgers traded Bradley to the Oakland A’s in 2005 for Andre Ethier after Bradley threw a plastic water bottle toward fans at Dodger Stadium and had a clubhouse confrontation with then-Times reporter Jason Reid.
