Khan claims lead in Portugal
Simon Khan tops the leaderboard at the halfway mark of the Portugal Masters after shooting a six-under 66 in round two.
The Englishman has struggled since winning last year’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, the European Tour’s flagship event, with a fifth place in the French Open his only top 10 of the season.
But he’s found his form at Vilamoura’s Oceanico Victoria Golf Course so far this week with rounds of 65 and 66 taking him to 13-under at halfway and into a one-shot lead over Welshman Rhys Davies, Chile’s Felipe Aguilar and first round leader James Kingston of South Africa.
“I started great – birdied the first two holes and that settled me down quickly,” said the 39-year-old Khan.
