Bayfront Park will be shaking to the bass of EDM

This weekend Downtown Miami has been completely transformed into a giant party. With more than 165,000 people expected to attend the festival over its three day span.

The music festival propelled the hashtags #UMFLive and #ULTRALIVE to the top trends as the festival was taking place and people were watching online.

According to Ultra organizers the weekend brings about $79 million into South Florida’s economy as 50 to 60 thousand people are expected each day of the three-day event.

Tickets cost nearly $400 plus a $90 service fee. According to the event’s website, the tickets are sold out ? try again next year.

Lines were already forming early Friday with ravers and EDM fanatics from all over the world who waited patiently for the biggest music festival in Miami.

What is ULTRA?

With the rise EDM, festivals like Ultra and Coachella are becoming part of mainstream culture — and they seem to only get more popular every year.

Over the past 15 years, thousands of the world’s most iconic DJs, producers and live acts have mesmerized audiences with awe-inspiring sets at Ultra events in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, as well as Croatia, Ibiza, Korea and of course in the city Miami.

In the last few years, its popularity has skyrocketed, not just becoming a cultural staple but an economic one.

Forbes reported:

If you’re not aware of the explosive growth in the category or are not yet buying it, Wall Street might be able to convince you otherwise. SFX, the biggest promoter in the EDM category, went public on the NASDAQ late last year and now has a market cap of $724 million. At their current valuation, SFX has only captured 16% of the overall EDM market opportunity, based on the estimate of Robert Sillerman, SFXs founder.

In 2014, Ultra added  brand new editions sets for South Africa and Japan, the world’s largest electronic music festival will be in nine countries and five continents across the globe this year.

But if you can’t make it, you can still take part in the experience!

Day 1 may be over but there’s still two more days left. Don’t have tickets? You’re not in Miami? Not a problem!
