Dreamers criticized Hillary Clinton for refusing to disapprove of President Barack Obama’s decision to delay executive action on immigration when she was confronted about the issue over the weekend.

Clinton was in Iowa on Sunday when Monica Reyes introduced herself as an “Iowa Dreamer” at the rope line of an event. She asked Clinton what she thought about Obama’s decision to postpone executive action on immigration until after the November elections. Clinton replied, “Well, I think we have to just keep working, can’t stop ever working.”

Cesar Vargas, co-director of the Dream Action Coalition, then told Clinton that Obama has broken his promise to the Latino community by deciding to delay executive action on immigration. He proceeded to ask Clinton whether she supported Obama’s decision.

“You know, I think we have to elect more Democrats,” Clinton answered, before walking away.

In a statement, Reyes condemned Clinton’s response, which was caught on video and posted on YouTube by the Dream Action Coalition. She said, “The answer is not electing more Democrats. It is about having the political courage to protect and keep families together.”

“The reality is that DREAMers and Latinos are not ready for Hillary, unless she can show real leadership on immigration,” Reyes continued. “Will she be a real advocate for immigrants or another ‘deporter in chief.’”

The YouTube video also shows Reyes asking Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) the same question about Obama’s decision to delay executive action on immigration. Sanders, who is another potential presidential candidate for 2016, was in Iowa the same day as Clinton.

“I believe he should have acted,” Sanders replied. “There’s no particular reason to believe that the Republicans will do anything in the House, but should he do more with executive action? Yes, I think he should.”

Reyes applauded Sander’s response saying, “Unlike Hillary Clinton, Senator Sanders showed he understood the urgency to keep families together, though was still sensitive to the political complexity.”

This is not the first time Clinton, who is a potential presidential candidate for 2016, is criticized over immigration.

In June, the former Secretary of State was criticized for saying at a town hall meeting hosted by CNN that unaccompanied minors who crossed the border illegally “should be sent back” to their native countries. She also defended Obama’s deportation practices at the town hall, saying that the president is limited on what he can do to protect undocumented immigrants from getting deported.
