When Maite Perroni is not filming a new music video or talking about her clothing line, she spends her time by raising awareness for those who are battling cancer.

The Mexican singer and actress is an advocate for the campaign Beautiful Lengths, which for the past eight years has been donating real-hair free wigs to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“This month of October is the perfect time to motivate people to donate their hair,” Perroni, 31, said to VOXXI in an exclusive interview. “And that we begin to create awareness because November 22nd is also National Donate Your Hair Day.”

By forming part of this initiative, Perroni is helping continue the labor and objective that has been accomplished in the past eight years with this project –which has received an estimate of about 600 thousand donations since it began in 2006.

She also sent an empowering message to those who are battling with the often-deadly disease:

“Life is a wonderful gift and it doesn’t matter how difficult it gets…put your heart, your purpose to move forward, your strength and your interest to keep on,” she said. “We must fight, we must move forward, and do everything possible to get better every day.”
