Golden Globes: get the hairstyle

We always talk about dresses and a red carpet is so much more. It’s all about attitude and obviously makeup and hair do’s. That’s why today we’ll show you how to get the hairstyle that J-Lo, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Carmichael and Camila Alves wore yesterday during the Golden Globes Awards. Here are the step by step of each one that you’ll need to make it happen:

Jennifer Lopez

Inspiration: When Lorenzo Martin (hairstylist) saw Jennifer’s Zuhair Murad 1960’s inspired dress he immediately thought of Sharon Tate, who became his inspiration for the look.

1. Lorenzo washed Jennifer’s hair and on damp hair, he sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It High Lift Creation Spray.
2. To give her up volume, Lorenzo applied L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Volume Inject Mousse on damp hair and began to blow dry with a round brush.
3. Lorenzo set Jennifer’s hair in 1” hot rollers for about an hour. Jennifer then flipped her hair over and Lorenzo brushed her hair out.
4. He began to tease the crown while spraying a really strong hairspray.
5. To complete the look, Lorenzo used a comb to split a front portion of Jennifer’s hair down the middle and secured it behind her ears with a few bobby pins.

Reese Witherspoon

Inspiration: Inspired by the “Wild” star’s glistening sequin dress, celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel gave Reese Witherspoon subtle, chic waves with a clean side part for the 72nd Annual Golden Globes. “Simplicity, modernity, and effortless texture were my key elements to creating this style,” said Adir.

1. Adir started by creating a severe side part and then applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz-Immunity Primer to towel-dried hair to serve as the perfect styling base.
2. To continue building the perfect foundation for this style, Adir spritzed John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine to Full Blow-Out Spray from roots to mid-shaft and then just concentrated on roots with John Frieda Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion.
3. Next, he rough dried hair until it was nearly dry which helped bring out the natural texture and increase volume. Then, using a medium-sized boar bristle brush, Adir blow-dried the top front section in a sweeping direction to create a beautiful sweep of hair, which can also help to hide shorter bangs underneath.
4. After blow-drying the rest of hair smooth, Adir used a 1 ¼” curling iron to wave hair from mid-shaft to ends, leaving the ends more undone.
5. To finish the look, Adir pulled hair over to one side and secured it with a few bobby pins, making sure the opposite side of cascading hair was pulled tight. He then locked in the style by misting a hairspray a flawless finish.

Laura Carmichael

Inspiration: Here’s the breakdown of how you can get “Downton Abbey” star Laura Carmichael’s look from celebrity hairstylist Blake Erik, inspired by her vintage James Galanos dress featuring an exposed back. The inspiration was “Modern twist on a refined classic Hollywood look”.

1. To begin, Erik sprayed a generous amount of John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray to wet hair, starting at the roots and working down to the tips, to create natural texture and a tousled look.
2. Next, he flipped the hair forward and dried it to add volume.
3. When the hair was completely dry, Erik then used a brush to comb back the hair and gather it into a ponytail. When he achieved the shape he wanted on the top, he moved on to pulling back the sides. He secured the ponytail using a small elastic.
4. Erik then created a rope braid ? separating the hair into two equal parts, twirling each section, then crossing the right section over the left section all the way to the bottom, finally securing the end with an elastic. This rope braid helps make the bun less bulky.
5. He took the rope braid and wrapped it into a bun, securing it using small bobby pins.
6. To secure the look, he sprayed new John Frieda Frizz Ease KeraFLEX Hairspray ? a flexible hold hairspray that would allow him to go back and brush flyaways if needed.
7. To finish, Erik used a makeup brush to smooth the underneath and sides of Laura’s hair. This pro tip is great for brushing flyaways without disrupting the look.

Camila Alves

Inspiration: Celebrity hairstylist Kristin Heitkotter gave Camila a glamorous deconstructed French braid chignon for the 2015 Golden Globe Awards tonight. “Camila has really curly hair and with the humidity in Los Angeles today, we wanted to make sure her hair stayed frizz-free,” said Heitkotter.

1. First, Heitkotter layered damp hair with new John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz Immunity Primer and John Frieda Frizz Ease Straight Fixation Styling Crème to ensure her hair looked as smooth and silky as possible. Using a paddle brush, she dried her hair to remove moisture and gave her a voluminous blow out.
2. Then, Heitkotter parted hair into 4 sections and applied a protecting spray before flat ironing each section to smoothen her mane. She applied a bit of the John Frieda Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir on her hair line to assure there were no flyaways.
3. Next, Heitkotter applied a few drops of John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Six Effects Serum and ran it through her ends to keep it frizz free. She divided the hair into four sections and twisted each section, loosely creating a deconstructed French braid chignon. With hair pins, she tucked the ends under, securing them in place.
4. To lock the look in place, Heitkotter sprayed with a hairspray.
