Set to hit theaters on May 27th, 2016, the latest “X-Men” installment is directed by Bryan Singer, who is returning to the director’s chair after releasing “X-Men” (2000), “X2″ (2001), “X-Men: First Class” (2011) and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” (2011).
Singer recruited the Miami-based actor because he’s a critic’s favorite, noticed for starring in the Coen brothers “Inside Llewyn Davis,” for which he earned a 2014 Golden Globe nomnation for Best Actor.
Singer worked on the story with Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris and Simon Kinberg, who is writing the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Unlike “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which was set in the 1970s, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is set in the 1980s.
The Hollywood Reporter also reported that Michael Fassbender is returning to the flick as Magneto. So are James McAvoy as Professor X and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.
While the movie is still in post-production, the director and producers are still searching for the actors who will play the young versions of Cyclops and Jean Grey/Marvel Girl.
