Bedoyecta® Expected to Donate Close to $50,000 to Organization Latinos in College

Continuing its mission of helping Latino students and their families find the information, resources and connections for college, Bedoyecta®, the multi-vitamin brand marketed by Valeant Consumer Products, a division of Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America LLC, has once again partnered with Latinos in College (LIC) for the second year in a row to support Échale Ganas a Tu Futuro (Go for Your Future). The program, which supports student and parent workshops and online educational materials, is designed specifically for the Hispanic community to encourage college attendance and graduation among Latino youth. Cumulatively between last year and this year, Bedoyecta® is expected to donate close to $50,000 to LIC, with a percentage of the donation raised through the sales of Bedoyecta®.

“We’re a brand that prides in supporting a community that has supported us all along,” says Katherine Salazar, Associate Director of Consumer Products, Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America LLC. “Over the years, Latino families have come to trust and use our products daily to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Now, they can take pride in knowing that a percentage of our sales in the U.S. supports programs like Échale Ganas a Tu Futuro

As the fastest growing minority group in the U.S. and with 34 percent of the Latino population under the age of 18,1 it is more important than ever that young Latinos get support when it comes to preparing for higher education. Studies show that while dropout rates among Latinos have decreased, they are still unacceptably high.2

“We still have a long way to go,” says Mariela Dabbah, CEO of LIC. “That’s why I started Latinos in College in 2009 to ensure that young people have a fighting chance for going to and staying in college no matter their economic background or whether their parents attended college. We are thankful to Bedoyecta® for continuing to support us in this effort.”

Bedoyecta®’s contributions to LIC, an organization run mostly by volunteers, will expand the organization’s resources for assisting Latino students and their families in taking the right tests to get into college, choosing schools, finding funding, and succeeding in college. LIC conducts in-person workshops and webinars focused on college access and career development.
