Why I am a Latina Republican

Lloyd Marcus is a black Republican who has the same problem with his relatives as I have with my Hispanic friends and family. He recently wrote, “About 99.9 % of my family are Democrats because Marcus family tradition taught us that the democrats are “for the little guy.” Republicans are “rich white racists.” Liberal media and the Democratic Party jointly support and promote this silly, simple lie, which still wins the Democrats 95% of the black vote.”

Democrats do not have that high percentage of our vote but I am always amazed that they get any of our votes at all. Hispanics have always been family oriented. Immigrants come here to better their lives. Democrats, however, have made sure that we have fewer children by promoting abortion as a civil right. They promote gay marriage, class envy, and welfare.

We are hard-working people and yet these politicians tell us we need a government check to get by because we can’t do anything on our own. It wasn’t always that way.

As a teenager, I was excited about politics when John F. Kennedy ran for president. As a young woman, I worked for Robert Kennedy when he ran for the Senate.

But the Democrats were different back then. They were more like the Republicans today. In a speech he gave in 1962, JFK said, “This administration pledged itself last summer to an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes to be enacted and become effective in 1963.’

He knew that the best way for our economy to grow was to have Americans keep more of their money and for businesses to pay fewer taxes so they could provide more jobs. That is not what his party is doing today. It wants only to raise taxes from those who are employers and is mandating regulations that will drive them out of business.

The Democrats are not capitalists. They promote socialism, which has always failed. That is why the European economy is dying.

There are only two things that the government does well and they are the military and space exploration (NASA). Yet these are the programs that the Democrats always cut, instead of focusing on waste.

The Republicans want a smaller government, a strong military and strong family values. Most important of all, they want us to keep our own hard-earned money. That is why I vote Republican.
