Argentina is on to the World Cup final after a win from the penalty spot on Wednesday in the Arena Sao Paulo. Sergio Romero was the hero of the night with 2 saves during the shootout.
A big boost for the South Americans on their Independence Day.
Lionel Messi and company will face Germany on July 13 for the World Cup title in the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro. The two will meet in the tournament final once again. Germany defeated Argentina in the 1990 World Cup final. Andreas Brehme scored an 85th minute penalty to win 1-0.

120 minutes was not enough to decide a winner in a match where both teams cancelled each other out on the pitch.
The South Americans won 4-2 from the penalty spot. Ron Vlaar and Wesley Sniejder saw their efforts saved by Sergio Romero, while Messi, Garay, Aguero and Lopez scored their spot kick.
Both teams played a conservative brand of soccer during the 120 minute prior to penalties.
Messi had one of the best chances of the first half with a free kick from just outside the box. The FC Barcelona man was not able to beat a diving Jesper Cillessen.
Argentina had another chance before the half. After a solid Lavezzi corner a diving Ezequiel Garay got on the of that corner, but the ball flew over the goal. Garay got a boot to the head for his effort.
The second half
Neither team wanted to risk too much for fear of getting scored on.
Argentina, however, did have a golden chance in the 75th minute. Enzo Perez hit a low cross from the right that Gonazlo Higuain smashed into the side netting.
In the final moments of regular time a combination between Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder saw Robben running at Sergio Romero in the Argentinian box, but a fantastic slide tackle by Javier Mascherano -who played one hell of a match- blocked the Dutchman’s shot.
The cautious play continued through extra time. Neither team creating chances.
This will be Argentina’s first World Cup final in 24 years. It is also a chance for Messi to write his name next to the soccer greats.

I don’t understand why people are basing argentina’s chances against germany on just one game, you never know what could happen
