Winners of ‘Premios Deportes’ in the hands of sports aficionados

Special sports events such as the FIFA World Cup, NBA Finals and World Series bombarded 2014 and unleashed the sports aficionados we have inside. Truth be told, it was a big year in sports and that’s why one awards show is honoring the athletes who’ve rocked.

The first-ever “Premios Deportes” will be added to the list of high profile award ceremonies on Univision.

It will recognize the best in sports, shining a light on the top Latino athletes of this year.

The brand new award show will air this December and the nominees for the night have been unleashed.

The nominees have come from many different sports including soccer, boxing, basketball and more. The winners are in the hands of voters online.

The category for “Best Sports Moment of the Year” has nominated Miguel “El Piojo” Herrera, James Rodriguez, and Maxi Rodriguez for a special moment that has left a mark this year.

For “MLS Player Of The Year,” Cubo Torres from Chivas USA, Marco Pappa from the Seattle Sounders, and Diego Valeria from the Portland Timbers are up against each other.

Other categories include “Best Soccer Game of the Year,” “Breakthrough of the Year,” “Best Athlete Post on Social Media” and more.

The winners will be announced at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on December 18 via UniMas.
